On behalf of the Executive Committee and the Local Organising Committee, it is my pleasure to let you know that you can now register your forthcoming participation in the XX Biennial IASPM Conference at iaspm2019.com – accepted presenters should also receive a separate notification of this.

Please note that the early bird rate AUD 330 expires on 31 March, after which the fee is AUD 385. For students, unwaged and retired the rate is AUD 302,50 until the conference. On the website you will also find information regarding travels, accommodation, keynotes and the city of Canberra. In conference matters, please direct your queries to iaspmxx2019@gmail.com.

In honor of black history month, and in celebration of the 30th anniversary of De La Soul’s groundbreaking album 3 Feet High and Rising, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music presents the interdisciplinary conference “Hip-Hop in the Golden Age,” to be held on February 16-17, 2019. We are proud to announce the 3nd International Conference on Sound, Silence, Image and Technology, to be held in Mataró (Barcelona) the next 3,4,5 of july 2019.
In collaboration with “La Creación musical en la Banda Sonora” (Musical Creation in the Soundtrack) the call has the aim to reflect about the role of music and sound in the audiovisual media. With an open and markedly multidisciplinary approach, the philosophy of this meeting is to encourage the confluence of points of view of theoretical paradigms and analytical models.

The Silencing. Experiences, materiality and powers international conference aims at considering silence in its practical dimension, as an object, a conduct, an aesthetic or political hold. In welcoming and confronting viewpoints from several academic fields – acoustics, anthropology, history, linguistics, literature, museology, musicology, sociology – and artistic practices – notably music, poetry, cinema– this conference will study how the existence of a creation of silence manifests, through the material, symbolic and political modalities of silence.

Building the Scenes?

Building the Scenes? Fan/zines in Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe before and after the Fall of Berlin Wall, held 22 – 23 February 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic.

We invite researchers to share their papers related to the conference theme, including but not limited to such topics as:
– transfer of zine practises among different subcultures
– cross border and transregional transfer of zines and practises
– modes of zine distribution
– modes of zine production
– relation of zines to subcultures and social movements
