The event celebrates popular music and the written word through books and magazines, histories and biographies, fanzines and blogs, plays and poetry, publishing and film, and explores the past, present and future of the field through panels, discussions, interviews and performances.

It features leading journalists and publishers, authors and academics and also a collection of literate musicians who have been engaged in publication projects of various kinds.

Writers participating include Barney Hoskyns, Lucy O’Brien, David Hepworth, Clinton Heylin, Chris Salewicz, Mick Middles and Zoe Howe. Musicians include Wilko Johnson, Hugh Cornwell, Tim Burgess, Jah Wobble and Stella Grundy. Academics joining the occasion are CP Lee (Salford), Dave Simpson (Huddersfield), Martin James (Soton Solent), Lucy O’Brien (UCA) and Simon Morrison (Chester). Industry reps include David Barker of Bloomsbury, rock manager Alan McGee, literary agent Simon Benham and legal expert Carol Isherwood.
