Popular Music Studies is not an academic discipline as such. Research and study are undertaken from a wide range of perspectives employing a variety of approaches, rooted in musicology, cultural studies, linguistics, social sciences, pedagogy or economics. Nevertheless, at a few places in the world scholars and students are well known for giving popular music special attention, or are starting to put more emphasis on it. This page is intended to introduce them.
