Faculty Positions: Clinical, Assistant and Associate Professors of Music

New York University
Abu Dhabi campus

NYU Abu Dhabi currently seeks a number of dynamic and creative music scholars and scholar-practitioners to teach within and across the disciplines of musicology/ethnomusicology, theory/composition, performance, and music technology/new media.  The successful candidate(s) will have a record of significant achievement in one or more of the above areas, an adventurous program of research and/or performance, and experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Candidates with experience in academic leadership and/or curricular development are particularly encouraged to apply.

New York University is working to establish itself as the world’s first Global Network University: an international, organically connected network of research and teaching sites encompassing key global cities and idea capitals. The network has three foundational, degree-granting campuses: in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai. These primary nodes are complemented by a network of over 15 research and study-away sites across five continents. Faculty and students circulate within this global network in pursuit of common research interests, cross-cultural understanding, and solutions to problems of local and global scope.

Entering its second year, NYU Abu Dhabi has already recruited an exciting cohort of faculty who are distinguished in both research and teaching. The initial incoming classes were drawn from around the world and surpass all traditional recruitment benchmarks, both in the United States and internationally. NYU Abu Dhabi’s highly selective liberal arts college is complemented by an institute for advanced research, sponsoring cutting-edge projects across the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering.

The terms of employment are competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. The appointment might begin as soon as September 1, 2012, or could be delayed until September 1, 2013.

Review of applications will begin December 1st and continue until the positions are filled.  Tenure-track and contract positions are available at junior or senior ranks, depending on qualifications and experience. Candidates should submit a letter describing their experience and aspirations, a CV, and three letters of reference in PDF format to be considered.
