The University of Agder invites applications for a full time permanent position as Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Vocal Performance in Popular Music at the Department of Music, Faculty of Fine Arts. The position is currently located at Campus Kristiansand, Norway.

The successful applicant must have higher (master’s) degree in music, and must be able to demonstrate a high level of artistic ability in vocal performance in popular music. Credit will be given to relevant research and development experience.

Applicants are required to document their teaching qualifications, including teacher education/training, experience from supervising students, and teaching experience. Applicants who are unable to document formal teacher training qualifications will be required to obtain such qualifications, or complete UiA’s Foundation Course in Education for University Lecturers, within two years of accepting the appointment. Teaching qualifications beyond basic competency may provide a competitive advantage in the ranking of otherwise equally qualified applicants.

The successful applicant will be responsible for bachelor’s and master’s level courses, and may be assigned to instruct and supervise PhD candidates. Courses in ensemble performance may also be included in the responsibilities of the position.

Applicants are required to demonstrate their personal suitability for the position, and good teamwork skills will be emphasised. Short-listed applicants will be invited for interviews.

Lecturing in ensemble may also be a part of the position.

The applicant must be able to document personal ability for the position. Good cooperative abilities will be emphasised, and there will be interviews.

Applicants must be proficient in English, and may be asked to provide instruction in English.

The position is renumerated within the State salary scale, salary plan 17.510, Professor code 1013, salary grades 66-85, Associate Professor (førsteamanuensis) code 1011, salary grades 57-63, Associate Professor (førstelektor) code 1198, salary grades 57-63, Assistant Professor code 1009, salary grades 46-56. In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A compulsory pension contribution will be deducted and paid to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund according to current statutory provisions.
